The scope of activities of the Department of Logistics
- setting the perspectives and directions for the development of logistics in the economy and organization of production of agribusiness enterprises,
- shaping the theory and practice of logistics applied in agribusiness enterprises in the context of creating theoretical and practical links between science and practice,
- building scientific foundations and determining directions of action for the development of logistics of agribusiness enterprises,
- analysis of the functioning of enterprises and farms and the shaping of their systems in the context of the development and adjustment of logistics to international standards,
- economics and logistics organization of agribusiness enterprises, with particular emphasis on logistics processes in the production, transport and storage of plant and animal production,

History
History of logistics at the Faculty of Economic Sciences of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences
Logistics at SGGW, under this name, was introduced in 2006. Previously, at the Faculty of Economics and Agriculture (now Economic Sciences) there were such majors as “economy “(The first field of study after the Faculty has moved from the area of agricultural sciences to social sciences, areas of economic sciences)management “(Created in the second half of the 90s),”sociology “(Was taken over by the newly established Faculty of Humanities (currently Social Sciences), created on July 1, 2006,”finance and banking ” (Nowadays “Finance and Accounting “). Observation of the situation in the national economy and the labor market prompted the then authorities of the Department to meet the challenges and attempt to launch the direction “ logistics “. During this period, such a course existed only in military and non-public universities.
Calendar of development of the direction “ logistics ”At the present Faculty of Economic Sciences, Warsaw University of Life Sciences – SGGW can be presented as follows.
- 12.2006 – The Senate of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences, at the request of the then Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Agriculture, supported by the Faculty Council, appoints the course “logistics ”In full-time and part-time 1st cycle (BA) studies; this is the first direction “logistics ”Launched at a non-military, public university in Poland; so far, it was created only in military and non-public universities, in some public universities there were only specializations “logistics ” or “transport and logistics “; WULS-SGGW launches undergraduate (“management”, 6-semester), non-engineering (“technical”, 7-semester) studies,
- 10.2007, academic year 2007/2008 – launching full-time and part-time 1st degree studies,
- 01.2008 – establishment of the Department of Production Economics and Logistics (former Department of Economics and Production Organization) – prof. dr hab. Bogdan Klepacki,
- 01.2009 – establishment of the Logistics Scientific Circle at the Faculty of Economic Sciences – Dr. Joanna Baran was appointed the tutor,
