History
On December 8, 1986, as a result of the decision of the Senate of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences, the Institute of Applied Mathematics and Statistics was dissolved and two separate departments were established: the Department of Econometrics and Computer Science and the Department of Applied Mathematics.
The Department of Econometrics and Computer Science was incorporated into the Faculty of Economics and Agriculture (now the Faculty of Economic Sciences). The founder of the Department was prof. dr hab. T. Marszałkowicz, who was the head of the Department of Econometrics and Computer Science in the years 1986 – 1992, in the years 1993-1999 the head was prof. dr hab. Bolesław Borkowski and in the years 2000 – 2005 – dr hab. Zbigniew Binderman, prof. SGGW.
In the meantime, on January 24, 2001, the Inter-Faculty Study of Computer Science and Econometrics was established (later to become the Faculty of Applied Computer Science and Mathematics). The basic teaching staff of the study were employees of the Department of Econometrics and Computer Science. The function of the head of the Study was performed by professor dr hab. Bolesław Borkowski.
In 2006, the Department of Econometrics and Computer Science was split, resulting in the creation of two new departments: the Department of Econometrics and Statistics and the Department of Computer Science. The function of the Head of the Department of Econometrics and Statistics was assumed by dr hab. Zbigniew Binderman, prof. SGGW.
In 2007, the Inter-faculty Study of Computer Science and Econometrics was completed.
On January 1, 2008, the Faculty of Applied Informatics and Mathematics was established mainly on the basis of the Department of Econometrics and Statistics, the Department of Computer Science and the Computer Laboratory. The first Dean of the new faculty was professor dr hab. Bolesław Borkowski (Department of Econometrics and Statistics), who held this position in 2008-2012.
The function of the head of the Department of Econometrics and Statistics at the Faculty of Applied Informatics and Mathematics in the years 2007 – 2012 was still held by dr hab. Zbigniew Binderman, prof. SGGW. From 2013 to 2016, Dr. Grzegorz Koszela was the head of the Department.

Quantitative Methods in Economics adheres to standards that ensure readers that the authors of the publication present the results of their work in a transparent, reliable and honest manner. The editorial staff of the journal makes every effort to eliminate cases of “ghostwriting” and “guest autorship”.
“Ghostwriting” means a situation where someone has made a significant contribution to a publication without disclosing their participation as one of the authors or without mentioning their role in the acknowledgments contained in the publication.
“Guest authorship” (“honorary authorship”) refers to a situation where the author’s contribution was negligible or absent, and yet he is the author / co-author of the publication.
To prevent “ghostwriting” and “guest authorship” cases, the editors of Quantitative Methods in Economics require authors to provide information on the contribution of individual authors to the publication. Therefore, information on this should be provided in the Authors’ Statements. The authors of the published work submit a declaration in which they transfer their copyrights to the publisher and declare that the work has not been published in another journal and does not infringe the copyrights of other people.
- Articles that do not meet the editorial and formal requirements are not accepted by the editorial office.
- Two reviewers from outside the author’s unit are appointed to evaluate each article.
- Reviews are made in the so-called “Double-blind review process”, which means that both the reviewers and the authors do not know each other’s identities.
- The review is in writing and is made on the form available on the journal’s website.
- The authors are provided with both reviews. If it is necessary to make significant changes suggested by the reviewers, the amended article is sent for re-review, which may result in a delay in the date of its publication.
